Hospice Harpist

from Deluxe EP by Dr. Fate

/

about

The vocals on this track were recorded on the last day I was in Olympia, in the hours before I hopped in a car packed with all of my things and headed out for an indefinite trip. Some of my dearest friends are singing the chorus with me.

Recorded at the Guest House November 2012

lyrics

Spent my savings on cigarettes
I've opened up my eyes to let's get on with it
This hotel breakfast sits uneasy in my body
Hoverfly is skirting my periphery reminding me
There's so much else left to see
The details and the subtleties

I don't need no hospice harpist
I've been slippin' snakeoil in my tea
I don't need no hospice harpist
I've been sippin' snakeoil through my teeth

Stray cat prowess inherent confident status
Nursing wounds with a tongue like daggers
Regal with her graceful haggard
Finally she's found a home
In the rarity of sugar sun
With room to roam and room to run

She said I don't need to hospice harpist
I've been slippin' snake oil in my tea
I don't need no hospice harpist
I've been sippin' snake oil through my teeth

I don't need no hospice harpist
But I sure would like to end this (on a sweet note)
